About the event
The net of treasures is endless, illuminating the universe. Tsz Shan Monastery Buddhist Art Museum launched the "Buddhist Art and Culture Basic Course" in early spring, and worked with top scholars and experts to jointly plan a new chapter in Buddhist art. The course content will start from the development of early Chinese Buddhist art, gradually understand the Buddha statues and their unique visual traditions from India, how they are transformed into cultural inspiration in the East, and deeply interpret the moving moments of Buddhist art that go straight to the heart.
Course Dates:
February 23, 2025; March 2, 9, 16, 22; April 6, 13, 27; May 11, 2025 (written test)
Teaching format:
A hybrid teaching model, including 4 online classes and 10 physical classes
* All physical classes are available online, and students can choose how to participate in the class
Online Classroom: Zoom Online Teaching Platform
Physical Classroom: Tsz Shan Monastery, 88 Universal Gate Road, Tai Po
Language of instruction: Cantonese / Mandarin / or English (each class is conducted in one language only, no translation is provided)

"Tsz Shan Monastery and HKU School of Professional and Continuing Education Qualifications Framework Certificate Project"
Students who enroll in this course can choose to join the joint project between Tsz Shan Monastery and HKU SPACE, “Qualifications Framework Certificate Module I”, and obtain the same course content and assessment structure. Students who complete the foundation course will be awarded the HKU SPACE Qualifications Framework Level 3 Certificate “Module: Foundations of Buddhist Art and Culture” (9 credits).
